Segue - Unique insurance for your voice
On the 26thApril 2018 Pulse held an event to officially launch our unique Segue insurance policy aimed at protecting vocalists, actors, voice over artists and any professionals whose voice is integral to their occupation.
The Segue policy has been designed with Rebecca Lodge who has been a professional musician for over 25 years, including 10 years as a member of the BBC Singers who are the only full time, professional chamber choir in the UK. She is currently a member of the Royal Opera House Chorus.
The idea for Segue's cover came about when Rebecca developed a polyp on her vocal cord which necessitated surgery and resulted in a loss of income for a period. Rebecca was lucky enough, with the help of her employer, to receive swift, expert treatment which after surgery enabled her to continue her career. If she had been completely freelance, such help would have been unavailable to her.
The Segue policy includes up to £500 per year towards consultation with an ENT specialist, £250 per week for up to 12 weeks to replace lost earnings as a result of vocal problems caused by illness or accident and up to £7,000 of medical expenses including surgery and intensive speech therapy.
The Segue event was held at the Caledonian Club in London and was attended by professional singers, insurance brokers and underwriters.
